A Weekend At Evans

Ander, Tim, and I snuck away from the CC scene for a weekend in the mountains. We drove up to Evans early Saturday morning carring full pads and backpacks. We got on all the classic stuff of Area A on Saturday. Temps and conditions were idea and it was clear that fall had begun up in the apline areas. Ander and I did Pat's Arete and I was able to repeat Bierstadt, which felt signifigantly easier than the first time I did it. I also did Ludder's Pinch, which, at least for me, took as much effort as Bierstadt. The highlight of Saturday was figuring out the moves on Mirrormask, which has to be one of the more fun problems at Evans, especially considering how closed in it is. Sunday was unfortenatly pretty wet and we ended up have a shorter day at Evans and stopped at the Millenium boulder on the way back to Colorado Springs. Things felt gressy there but it got everyones energy up on the place for when temps start to cool off.

do you have any shots of mirror mask, and/or beta to find it?

i've been interested in checking this one out for some time, but haven't been able to.

mirror mask is a little hard to find cause it comes out of a cave/talus but once you see it you cannot miss it. just head about 100 meters up valley from the dali boulder staying at about the same elevation. it starts compressing on a left hand jug at head height and a right hand on the biggest tick on the opposite arete also at head height. the beta past here is hard to explain but move to a crazy tufa like pinch and then to a scary top out. no shots as of now, but i will be back at evans in less than two weeks and plan to get back on.
